在每个楼层诞生的那一刻起，就有许多属于这一楼层的“时间线”。过去，现在，未来连成一线，此为时间线。事件的发生伴随着概率。因不同的概率，故事件有不同的结果。事件的每一时刻均有无数彼此平行可能发生的结果，下一时刻的结果又受因上一时刻的结果影响。无数个平行的现在，我们处在其一，无数个平行的过去于我们所处的现在前，无数个平行的未来于我们所处的现在后。
“时间线”会影响着各个楼层的命运，它们会因为你的选择而发生变动——重获新生或是毁灭，这些举动通常你不以为意，但是它确实起到了关键的作用。
有些楼层的“时间线”在出生的那一刻起，就已经因为自身的崩坏、内部紊乱、平衡混乱而消失，这些楼层通常被称为“The Overrooms”1，这些时间线上的楼层并没有人去记住它们，没有人为它们做出选择，甚至没有人进入或是离开2，没有人愿意整理它们的档案，因为它们过于混乱，当然，这是你被动所做出的选择，因为这些时间线上的楼层大部分都没有被记录就已经被“自己所杀死”。
不过相反的，有些楼层产生的时间线虽然会有的毁灭，不过也有的存活下来，这些存活下来的时间线相对于那些已经毁灭的时间线，有着更高的合理性和相对不致命的特性，这些特点使得它们会在茫茫楼层中的一次偶然被各种各样的流浪者发现，并探索上报，这样就会有人去记住它们，会有人去尝试保护它们：有人整理出了它们的档案，以供后人研究和一代一代的记住这些在时间线的残酷机制下的“可怜人”；有人在内部建立了组织，致力于保护这些楼层；有人甚至去专门研究这些楼层，当然，这些人也给这种楼层的集合起了个名字：“The Lastrooms”3，让那些对此事一概不知的人也有了认识这种楼层的渠道，当然，更多的是要赶紧上报你所发现的这种楼层，你可能会挽救无数个楼层的生命。
如同“左右室”对应"室"一样，在“遗失室”里的每个楼层，都至少对应了某个“室”中的楼层，尽管进入它们的方式可能令人发指，不过每个“室”中的楼层一定都会有一个来自于“遗失室”的出口，这也证明了很多“室”和“遗失室”有着关联。不过由于“遗失室”独特的时间线的交叉繁杂，你很难通过这里去往“前室”，也不可能出现径直通往“前室”的入口，如果出现，那只可能是通往其他时间线的错误的“前室”。
如何进入
在一个楼层中有概率出现一个本不该存在的地方，那个地方就可以进入遗失室，但是没有什么人见过这个“本不该存在”的地方。事实上遗失室的存在也依然成谜。
据说在“枢纽”里一直朝着一个“并不存在”的方向直行，之后你会来到一个全新的“交叉口”，如果你向右走，就会到达“遗弃枢纽”，向左走则会回到Level 1，不过并没有人知道到底怎么走、走多远，且整个过程一旦进入就会一直处于“非线性空间”，沿途并没有物资和其他流浪者甚至是其他实体，若你做好准备了，就启程吧。
第一个进入遗失室的人
第一个进入遗失室的人是一名M.E.G探员，他在Level 0勘探的时候掉入了遗失室，且死于第二阶段。而其进入的位置以及方法仍然未知。
其他信息
遗失室通常与"室"有着千丝万缕的关系，例如：Level 0.Last的一间屋子、Level 1.Last的无限次数的堆叠、Level 2.Last的地图分层。
这些关系通常会给人一种：这是有关系，但好像又独立；有关系，但混乱……这类的言论。
同时，它们的入口一般也会与同一时间线上的"室"相连接，不被遗忘的它们，入口通常是保持畅通的，不过也有极其少部分的遗失室层级的入口是被迫关闭的，它们通常十分危险，不过这一般都不会导致其遗忘。
除此之外，“遗失室”中的实体也大多是后室中存在的，它们会用后室中的方式去猎杀你，这一点与后室无异。不过在“遗失室”中，也有一些被“时间线”催生出的产物，例如“孤独”和“浮游者”，它们有着独特的特性和外貌，甚至完全为了某一个楼层而生。
据研究，M.E.G发现任何位于遗失室的实体都是无法被人为地完全消灭的。
